Hi guys, haven't update my blog for awhile. Well, here is the latest project that I just finished up on, the work was created for First Act, Inc. a musical instrument company in Boston. Really having a great time doing this project. The art direction was from client and I create all the characters in Maya and then did the details in ZBrush such as the creasing on the clothes and also painted most of the texture in Zbrush. Some of the characters are rig in Maya and some are posed in ZBrush using Transpose tool. The final result of the characters are rendered without music instrument and will be mounted with the real instruments later as because it will be use as an in-store signage purpose. Enjoy!

Here are some wireframe shots from viewport, more wireframe coming soon!

General Lynx

So here is my latest work. I was having this idea for creating a high poly character where the style is a combination from Hong Kong comic style and Western comic style. I try to visualize it through the eyebrows, facial structure and face scar then give it a realistic skin shading looks. The base mesh was built up in maya and sculpted in zbrush. I use mayaHair and mayaFur for the hair, eyebrows and whiskers. The skin is using mentalRay fast skin shader. All the face texture was hand painted done in zbrush and photoshop.

Commander Red Foxx

Just finished this new character. I'm having the idea of doing some next gen game character in my spare time. Like usual base mesh created in Maya and then sculpted in ZBrush, all texturing was done with polypaint in ZBrush and edited in PhotoShop. The character has 6.068 poly and the gun is 520 poly with 2k maps.

My 2D/3D Sketches

Some quick sketches that i did in zbrush during my free time. All model was sculpted from 3d sphere in zbrush.

This model below was created with zsphere from zbrush. Spent about 2 hours on it.

And this is some pencil sketches from my sketchbook, sorry about the blurry pictures and the shadow distortion because i took the pictures with my digital camera.

W . I . P

Another character that still in working progress. For this charcater all base mesh was done in maya and then bring into zbrush for sculpting and detailing. I improvised on the left arm and the boots from the early concept design during the modeling process and i'm quite happy with the new version. Now need to work on the engravings on the armor and after that gotta rebuild the body into an organized topology.
